Chicago alternative rock radio station Q101 is reporting a rumor today that the Smashing Pumpkins may actually still play the final day of Lollapoolza today. It was formerly rumored back in March, and now the final day of Lollapooza it's a rumor being circulated again.
Q101 is claiming that the rumor has something to do with concert promoter JAM Productions being at the park today. Which I find strange because JAM has nothing to do with Lollapalooza and even complained that the event was allowed to go on at all. JAM has done work with the Smashing Pumpkins in the past, though.
The rumor also says that they will either play half the set that the Red Hot Chili Peppers has or will come on stage after them. The Chili Peppers are slated to play from 8:15 until 9:45. So only time will tell.
Update! 11:00pm
It looks like it may have happened. Reports are starting to trickle into the Internet now, but Q101 has said nothing yet because Local 101 is on. There are currently reports on Netphoria and a few on Billy's MySpace comments. They say that James Iha is back with Billy and Jimmy!
I can't wait to see more! I'll update as I hear or read more.

Sorry it did not appear to be true, shows that you can't trust the word of the posters on Netphoria.
